Trade Onsale Tuesday

Tickets for Trade Days Conference events, presented by Sysco, go on sale Tuesday, January 17 at 9:30 a.m.

The 14-event Trade Days program is an integral part of the Vancouver International Wine Festival, Canada’s premier wine show, featuring three days of seminars, masterclasses, lunches and tastings designed to enhance your wine knowledge and business. The conference runs February 15-17.

“This year, we are celebrating the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation by showcasing the largest selection of Canadian wineries ever assembled at an international festival,” says VIWF executive director Harry Hertscheg. “With 180 attending vine stars from around the world, along with national and international media and buyers, VIWF 2017 will be an unprecedented opportunity for Canada to understand its place in the wine world, both as a long-time importer and an emerging exporter of premium wines – including amongst provinces!”

View the 180 wineries from 16 countries. For a quick overview of festival events — including a great line-up of public wine seminars — browse the Festival at a Glance pdf. Learn more at the Trade Days website, download the trade brochure or view it online.

Thank You for Making Us #1

For the fourth year in a row, VanWineFest was rated the #1 Food, Wine & Hospitality Industry Event in Canada by BizBash. It’s a tribute to all our partners and participants!

Thank you for your support!

Congratulations to BC’s Best Somm

The Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers British Columbia Chapter (CAPS BC) has named Shane Taylor of CinCin Ristorante Best Sommelier of BC, 2017. Shane took home the title after an all-day showdown against 15 other sommeliers at Rogers Arena on January 9. Victory was particularly sweet, as Shane had finished in second place the last two competitions.

Todd Prucyk of Hawksworth Restaurant and Mathew Landry of The Stable House Bistro were this year’s runners-up.

Shane will be presented with the Sommelier of the Year Award at the 14th Annual Awards Lunch on Friday, February 17. He will compete in the National Sommelier Competition in Vancouver this September for a chance to represent Canada in the world championships in 2019.

BC Hospitality Foundation

VanWineFest is pleased to partner with the BC Hospitality Foundation. Sommelier scholarships will be presented at the 14th Annual Awards Lunch on Friday, February 17.

The BC Hospitality Foundation is the industry’s charity of choice, providing support for individuals within the hospitality community who are coping with a financial crisis arising from a health or medical condition.

The Foundation’s mission is to offer assistance, beyond traditional medical benefits and insurances, to individuals within the hospitality community in their times of financial need. As well, it is committed to supporting the industry’s next generation by providing scholarships to selected students enrolled in hospitality, culinary and wine programmes in BC.
