Value: $2,300

As Featured in Bard’s 2017 Production of Much Ado About Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing, directed by John Murphy, was a highlight of the 2017 season and one of Bard on the Beach’s biggest-ever hits. Set in Italy in the 1960s, the production was inspired by the extravagantly glamorous and entertaining Italian films of that era. The centrepiece of one of the funniest scenes in Bard’s production was a set of matching his and hers electric scooters, appearing as stand-ins for the Italian Vespa’s of the time.

Included in this package is the lightly and lovingly-used, black electric scooter — the MOTORINO XPe. No driver’s license required, it reaches a top speed of 32km/h and can be recharged almost anywhere. Take your scooter to a performance of your choice in the Bard 2018 season; the package also includes two play tickets, wine and picnics from Emelle’s Catering. And zoom around the city on your own piece of Bard history!

John Shafer and his family founded Shafer Vineyards, located in the Stags Leap District of the Napa Valley, in 1979. From the Shafer’s first wine, a 1978 Cabernet Sauvignon, their wines have won much acclaim. Their flagship wine, Hillside Select, is produced from selected blocks of the family’s hillside vineyards and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

With more herbs, cedar and tea than its ‘97 sibling, this one offers ripe aromatics and elegantly balanced fruit flavors. Uncork this vintage and you’ll find deep color in the center of the glass with a ring of brick at the edge, with a silky texture and maturing fruit, showing elements of black currant and dark spice with a long finish.

1982 Bordeaux wine is a historic year for a myriad of reasons. It was the first true vintage of the modern age, ushering in a new style of Bordeaux wine. It was a long time coming. Not since 1961, 21 years earlier, had wines of this consistent level of quality been produced. 1982 Bordeaux wine is also the vintage famous for launching the career of the world’s most successful wine critic, Robert Parker. Parker’s non-stop, exuberant praise of 1982 Bordeaux wine earned him the respect of a new generation of wine lovers that continued for more than 4 decades.

This collection includes: 1982 Châteaux Palmer, 1982 Cos d’Estournel, 1982 Pichon Lalande, 1982 Clos de Marquis, 1982 La Tour du Pin Figeac and 1982 Les Forts de Latour.

The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the most celebrated and legendary wine producer in the world. At the top of the hierarchy of the great wines produced here sits the monopole, Romanée-Conti itself. Second in line — and often only a shade behind in quality — Is La Tâche, a small grand cru vineyard in the village of Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. It covers 6 hectares (15 acres) of land planted to Pinot Noir and is also a monopole of the iconic Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The single wine made from the La Tâche vines is full-bodied and structured, and is one of the most expensive and sought-after wines in the world. Clive Coates MW wrote in his tasting note of the 1983 La Tâche that the wine is: “Exotic and lovely…Long and multidimensional. A really splendid example.” Coates rated this wine 18.5/20 and suggested drinking the wine “Now to 2022”.

Le Musigny is a revered Grand Cru vineyard site right at the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits wine district in the parish of Chambolle-Musigny. The vineyard has long played an important part in local life – so much so that, in 1882, its name was appended to that of the village, which was originally just Chambolle. The vineyard was officially classified as a Grand Cru in 1936. Musigny’s hallmark is its amazing balance between power and finesse. Michael Broadbent MW tasted this exact Coron bottling of 1964 de Vogue Musigny in March of 2002, noting that the wine showed: “Medium-deep; fairly high-toned ‘boiled beetroot’ Pinot, this time noting a strawberry-like development; dry, stern, fair body…a touch of tartness but delicious flavour.”
