ENHANCE YOUR CELLAR
1989 Château Pétrus and 1988 Château Margaux among gems
If you’re a serious wine collector, the Bacchanalia Gala is an incredible opportunity to bid on rare, valuable and unusual wines – as well as amazing epicurean experiences, such as a northern Italy wine tour led by VIWF executive director Harry Hertscheg.
Live auction highlights include the stunning 1989 Château Pétrus, valued at nearly $7,500, and a dozen bottles of the 1988 Château Margaux, worth $13,400, to take home to your cellar, and a rare vertical from cult winery Harlan Estate. The amazing collection includes famed French wines from Bordeaux Premier Cru properties and Burgundy Grand Crus, as well as Italian Super Tuscans Ornellaia and Sassicaia, and an incredible assembly of wines from across Canada, the festival’s 2017 theme country.
The evening opens with a sparkling wine reception, featuring a 20-year-old vintage just released. A five-course dinner from executive chef Cameron Ballendine follows, paired with nine wines, taking patrons on an imaginative culinary journey across Canada, from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
